General Information
- Fresh season typically Mid-September through October.
- Small-sized red berry with small seeds.
- Grown in Oregon, Massachusetts, Wisconsin
- Once an important food and medicine for Native Americans.
- Revolutionary War verteran Henry Hall planted the first commercial cranberry beds in Dennis, Massachusetts in 1816.
- Today, cranberries are farmed on approximately 40,000 acres (16,200 hectares) across the norther United States and Canada.
Health Benefits
North American women have been drinking cranberry juice cocktail for years as a traditional remedy for bladder infections and to maintain urinary tract health. Cranberries are an excellent source of "antioxidants," which help protect against cancer, heart disease and other diseases.
